Ontwerpen en printen van kleurenlabels met de Epson ColorWorks

Als je labels in kleur wilt gaan printen zijn er een hoop stappen te nemen. Uiteraard heb je een printer nodig waarbij wij zullen adviseren om te kiezen voor een Epson ColorWorks labelprinter en labels van het merk Diamondlabels.

Stel je hebt deze op je bureau, dan moet je nog iets hebben om te gaan printen, namelijk een label ontwerp. Om je daarmee op weg te helpen hier een gids voor het ontwerpen en printen van kleuren labels.

Creative Design

Welkom bij deze uitgebreide gids over het ontwerpen en printen van kleuren labels met behulp van de Epson ColorWorks inkjet kleurenlabelprinter. Als leek op dit gebied kan het proces van het maken van labels in kleur overweldigend lijken, maar maak je geen zorgen! We zullen je stap voor stap door de verschillende softwareopties leiden.

We maken onderscheid tussen software voor het grafisch ontwerpen van de labels en software voor het printen van logische variabele gegevens zoals gegevens uit een database.

Soorten software voor het ontwerpen van kleurenlabels (grafisch ontwerpen)

Bij het grafisch ontwerpen van kleuren labels zijn er verschillende softwareopties beschikbaar. Hier zijn enkele veelgebruikte programma’s. Je kan in dergelijke software veel grafische ontwerpen maken, van logo tot een compleet label ontwerp.

Printen van variabele gegevens

Naast het grafisch ontwerpen is er vaak behoefte aan variabele gegevens, zoals THT-datum of database-informatie. Hiervoor heb je speciale software nodig die het design samenvoegt met de variabele gegevens.

Wel of niet automatiseren? NiceLabel betaalde versie of gratis?

Het is lang niet altijd nodig om een betaalde versie te gebruiken. Als je slechts een barcode en een klein stukje tekst moet aanpassen, kan de gratis versie van NiceLabel voor Epson ColorWorks voldoende zijn. Wat niet kan is automatisch gegevens aanvullen of een database koppelen.

Grafisch ontwerpen van kleurenlabels

Bij het grafisch ontwerpen is het belangrijk dat een label design in balans is qua kleur en verhoudingen. Hier zijn enkele tips om je op weg te helpen:

Kleurgebruik

Kies passende kleuren en zorg voor voldoende contrast. Maak gebruik van kleurenschema's (zoals het gratis Adobe kleurenwiel).

Lettertypen

Kies leesbare lettertypen. Gebruik er niet te veel in één design (maximaal 1 of 2), en varieer met dikte en cursief.

Afbeeldingen

Gebruik hoogwaardige afbeeldingen met de juiste resolutie. Insluiten zorgt dat de afbeelding altijd in je bestand zit.

Lay-out

Zorg dat belangrijke details opvallen. Gebruik rasterlijnen voor uitlijning en houd voldoende witruimte tussen elementen.

Materiaal

Stem je design af op het materiaal. Transparant of houtnerf (DIC200) biedt extra mogelijkheden. Print altijd een test.

Een goed design kost tijd

Het maken van een goed grafisch design kost tijd. Het gebeurt zelden dat een ontwerp in één keer echt goed is. Als je bijvoorbeeld product labels ontwerpt, wil je bepaalde elementen zo opmaken dat je ze per soort kunt aanpassen zonder de rest van het basis design te wijzigen. Neem daarom altijd goed de tijd!

Wat zijn de belangrijkste verschillen tussen Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW en AFFINITY DESIGNER? Ondanks dat we zelf gebruik maken van Adobe Illustrator, adviseren we vrijwel al onze klanten om te kiezen voor AFFINITY DESIGNER.

Illustrator: Extreem veel mogelijkheden, kan overweldigend zijn voor beginners.

Affinity Designer: Eenmalig ca. € 75. Zeer betaalbaar, geen verplichte upgrades.

Illustrator: Abonnement, relatief kostbaar. Vooral voor dagelijkse professionals.

CorelDRAW: Basis eenmalig is vergelijkbaar, maar mist functies zonder duurdere versie.

Functionaliteit

Op enkele geavanceerde functies na ontlopen de pakketten elkaar niet veel.

Een beginner mist deze niet. Een expert die dagelijks illustreert merkt de voordelen van Illustrator's abonnementsupdates wel.

Conclusie

Hoewel we een voorkeur hebben voor AFFINITY DESIGNER en dit veel adviseren, betekent dit niet dat de andere pakketten minderwaardig zijn. Elke software heeft zijn sterke punten; het is belangrijk om te beoordelen welke het beste past bij jouw wensen en budget!

Matte inkjet paper especially for applications with endless label rolls with easy to remove adhesive. Extra thin matte inkjet label material for endless rolls

The DIA010 from Diamondlabels is an extra thin matte inkjet paper specially developed for endless label rolls. Since the DIA010 is an extra thin paper, more meters fit on a single roll, but the biggest advantage is the extra low load on the autocutter unit.
